Washington Commanders coach Ron Rivera explained why he fined defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio $ 100,000 in response to his coach’s remarks on the January 6 mob attack.
Rivera stated that he was a major supporter of the First Amendment, but the discipline that Del Rio received was not about freedom of speech.

Del Rio then deleted his Twitter account. Rivera said Del Rio’s fines will be donated to the United States Capitol Police Memorial Fund.
