Florida Democratic gubernatorial nominee Charlie Christ announced his resignation from Congress on Wednesday, just two months before the November election. His resignation will take effect at the end of that day.
Christo, who won the Democratic nomination for governor of Florida on Aug. 23, said in a statement to the Tampa Bay Times that it was an “honor and privilege” to represent Florida’s 13th congressional district. rice field.

Christo switched parties in 2012 after serving as governor of Florida as a Republican from 2007 to 2011. In 2016 he was elected to the House of Representatives and has represented Florida’s 13th District since 2017.
