The captain of Canada’s Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League team died tragically during a preseason game, his team said Wednesday.
Eli Palfreman was 20 when he played for the Air Centennials.

“Our prayers and support goes out to Eli’s family and each player. Our Centennials organization and the Ayr community are in mourning,” Centennials vice president Brian Schantz said in a statement. ‘ said. Pal Freeman was recently appointed captain of the team, calling it an honor in a recent video.
“I have been coming to see games at Ayr since I moved to Cambridge. Words cannot express how honored I am to be in this position.”
