Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans was suspended for one game without pay for playing a role in an altercation with New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore.
The NFL announced a suspension on Monday.
The NFL’s vice president of football operations, John Runyan, said in a news release that Evans was suspended for violating the league’s rules regarding unnecessary rowdy and unsportsmanlike conduct.

“After the play was over, you were walking to the sidelines. When you noticed your teammate was facing off against a Saints player, you ran to that area of the field and threw your body violently. “You knocked your opponent to the ground and a brawl ensued involving players from both teams. Your aggressive behavior could cause serious injury to your opponent.” and clearly does not reflect the high standards of sportsmanship expected of professionals.In a letter to Evans.
ESPN reported that Evans will appeal the suspension.
The incident began after Bucks quarterback Tom Brady threw an incomplete pass to Scotty Miller. Brady was marching down the field to confront the umpire when Lattimore appeared to gesture toward the quarterback. Brady went to face Lattimore when Leonard Fournette started pushing.
Evans began to leave the field when he saw the brawl going on. He ran over and knocked Lattimore to the ground.

Multiple flags were thrown and a set-off penalty was awarded, in addition to Evans and Lattimore being sent off.
After the game, Starwide’s receiver asked about the incident.
“Coming to New Orleans makes it tough,” Evans said. “And they’re a great team, a physical team. We matched it today….we know we were going to get the flag called. Face or something like that. I saw a thing and pushed Tom, and that’s all I saw.”
Evans added that he thought Lattimore was “too emotional”.
“Very competitive. He was too emotional today,” he said. told ESPN. “Don’t throw punches at the guys on the field. He threw punches at Lenny and I can’t let that happen to my teammate. So I pushed him… brawl became.

Evans led 61 yards with three catches. Breshad Perriman had three catches for 45 yards and a go-ahead touchdown catch from Brady.
