In a campaign-style address at Independence Hall in Philadelphia on Thursday, President Biden described the current state of U.S. politics as “equality and democracy,” with Republicans accused of attacking those principles. I aimed to assemble it as a battle.
The president’s speeches continue the recent pattern of increasingly aggressive and divisive broadsides against his political opponents. Biden recently said Republicans embraced “half-fascism.”
Democrats feel they are gaining momentum heading into the November election, thanks to voters motivated by their distaste for Republican policies on social issues such as abortion, and former President Donald Trump himself.
“These two documents, and the ideals of equality and democracy they embody, are the foundation upon which this nation is built,” Biden said of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution written at Independence Hall.
McCarthy says Biden is a ‘defamed’ American, attacks democrats on inflation, immigration, etc. in campaign speech
“But as I stand here tonight, equality and democracy are under attack,” Biden added. “Pretending otherwise is not doing us any favors.”
The tone and setting of the speech highlighted Biden’s efforts to portray the upcoming congressional election as part of what White House officials described as “an ongoing battle for the soul of the nation.” The president has resorted to such rhetoric on a regular basis during the 2020 presidential campaign and appears poised to bring back some of these issues ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.
As the election approaches, Democrats appear to be moving to attack President Trump and highlight social issues such as abortion that are becoming increasingly important to voters, according to a Fox News poll last month. They say Republican action on issues of this nature is a fundamental threat to the rights of Americans.
Biden thrashed Republicans on these topics Thursday.
Biden referred to President Trump’s slogan, “Make America Great Again,” and said, “The MAGA forces are determined to bring this country back.” “Go back to America where you have no right to choose, no right to privacy, no right to contraception, no right to marry the person you love.”

Republicans, on the other hand, have said soaring inflation and the economy are key medium-term challenges. The same Fox News poll found that inflation remained voters’ biggest issue as prices rose significantly under President Biden.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Republican California, attacked Democrats on a range of issues, including inflation, in a speech ahead of Biden’s speech on Thursday.
“How many people can afford to give up a month of their income? More than a month’s income was taken away. “
McCarthy added:
The minority leader also denounced Biden’s “semi-fascist” comments. He said Biden “should apologize for smearing tens of millions of Americans as ‘fascists.
In his remarks, Biden accused Trump, the attack on the Capitol on January 6, the Republican effort to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, and Trump’s MAGA supporters.
“Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans represent extremism that threatens the very foundation of our republic.” MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution. They do not believe in the rule of law. They refuse to accept the results of free elections.”
The president said he does not believe that “all Republicans are MAGA Republicans, even if they are not the majority of Republicans”. , are being driven and threatened,” he said.
