The team also announced on Monday that Assistant GM Chris McFarland will act as GM.
Colorado ended its most successful regular season by defeating two-time defending champion Tampa Bay Lightning in the final. Avalanche concludes the series with six games and finishes the postseason 16-4.
This was another title for Sakic, who was the captain of Avalanche when he held the Stanley Cup in 1996 and 2001. He was the first title in NHL history to win as captain and GM in the same organization.
But in Sakick’s way, he distracted praise.
Wild Kirill Kaprizov refused to participate in two AMID reports to the United States that Russia is seeking for a fake military identity card.
“This is a team award. We have great staff. Chris McFarland is very interested in this,” Sakic said in an NHL draft in Montreal last week. “We do everything together. It’s our scouts, professionals, amateurs. But it’s teams, players. They’ve been working hard on coaching staff this year. For me, it’s It’s not an individual award. It’s a systematic award. An award. “
Colorado finished with a total of 72 wins in the playoffs and regular season. It was set by the Montreal Canadiens of 1976-77 and links the league record matched by the Edmonton Oilers of 1983-84 and the Detroit Red Wings of 1995-96.
Sakick retired from Avalanche as a player in July 2009. He was hired as an executive advisor / alternative governor for the team in March 2011. This is his ninth season as Executive Vice President / GM of the team.
The team has begun numbers that are likely to be a busy off-season by re-signing veteran forward Andrew Cogliano on a one-year contract. Colorado also won goalkeeper Alexander Georgiev from the New York Rangers in a move that is likely to spell the end of Darcy Kuemper’s time in Denver.
