Progressive Congressman Alexandria Ocasiocortes admitted in a recent interview that the perception that she was not in contact with her members was “always a concern.”
“It’s always a concern that it’s a perception,” a New York Democrat told The Associated Press about the possibility that her celebrity status would come across voters as not touching on their concerns.
“I couldn’t control the fact that such a phenomenon began the moment I was elected,” she continued. “If anything, that’s why it’s really important for me to stay here in the community.”
Ocasio-Cortez is followed by more than 13 million people on Twitter alone, and her posts are regularly word-of-mouth on social media, making her one of the most famous Democrats on the Internet.

Ocasio Cortez’s internet popularity is reflected in the reality of some voters, including a man who said he didn’t live in the parliamentary district covering parts of the Bronx and Queens at the City Hall in March. He says he’s looking at her as a “normal person”.
“I knew she was big,” said 21-year-old Daron Jones. “It inspires me that she is a normal person. She is just trying to help the community here.”

“Poor man” Ocasio Cortez tweeted in response to reports that pro-choice protesters interfered with Cabano’s dinner at a restaurant in Washington, DC. “He left before Souffle because he decided that if half of the country had an ectopic pregnancy within the wrong state border, he should risk death. It’s all very much for him. It’s unfair. What they can do is feed him a cake. “
In response to a leak of opinion predicting the final reversal of the Roe v. Wade case, a member’s tweet arrived less than a month after the alleged assassination of Cabano’s life.
Mark Hemingway, senior writer for RealClear Investments, was one of many who blew the new tone of Ocasio Cortez on social media: “Four days ago she defended a protester chasing a Supreme Court judge from a private facility. The guy who said a rough sketch about her on the stairs of a public building. She should probably choose a consistent position here. “
