Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Friday doubled down on her criticism of the transportation of migrants from the US-Mexico border to various parts of the country.
In a tweet, New York Democrats called recent actions by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Texas Governor Greg Abbott “appalling” and likened them to “human trafficking.”
Without naming the two governors, Ocasio-Cortez also said Republicans were guilty of “crimes against humanity.”
“It’s appalling that far-right politicians seem to have decided the pre-election fall as a regular time to commit crimes against humanity against refugees,” she tweeted.

Ocasio-Cortez added:
In two other posts, the Bronx native suggested we should refrain from calling immigration “illegal.”
“By today’s standards, most U.S. families would have been considered undocumented or trafficked at some point in their family history,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. Until immigration became a racialized issue, people didn’t need lawyers or years of formalities to come to this United States.”
Biden says Republicans are “doing politics” after moving immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard, the home of the vice president.
The tweet came as Abbott coordinated transportation of two buses full of immigrants to the Naval Observatory in Washington, DC.
In the past, Abbott has bussed immigrants to New York and other areas.
The motorcade suggests the governor is “struggling” to run his state and perhaps he should consider other employment, she said.
“We remember how people helped to help Texans who were left cold and hungry during the freezing period,” said Ocasio-Cortez. “We welcome these families as well.” They have a lot to offer.” A severe winter storm.
“But you seem to be having a hard time at work. Perhaps you should consider whether this is the right job for you,” she concluded.
