Three more ships will leave the Black Sea port loaded with food on Friday morning under a grain deal brokered by the United Nations and Turkey, officials said.
Two of them will leave the port of Chernomorsk, and the other will leave the port of Odessa, carrying a total of more than 58,000 tons of corn.
Ukraine’s Minister of Infrastructure Aleksandr Kubrakov wrote on Facebook that he “expects the professionalism of all involved”.
Under the agreement the authorities agreed on July 22nd, ships are allowed to carry grain, corn and related food from the ports of Odessa, Chernomorsk and Yuzhny.

The deal appeared to be in jeopardy on July 23 when Russia launched a series of missile attacks on the Ukrainian coastline, but the first ship carrying 26,000 tons of corn left this week.
Russia’s February invasion of Ukraine put pressure on food prices around the world as both countries are important players in global commodity markets.

The UN’s FAO Food Price Index, which reflects international prices for food baskets, rose 23% in June compared to the same period last year.
