Texas Democrat Beto O’Rourke, who is running for governor, announced Sunday afternoon that he was recovering after being recently diagnosed with a “bacterial infection.”
O’Rourke announced in a tweet on Sunday that he was being treated at San Antonio’s Methodist Hospital.
He also said several campaign events had been postponed due to illness.
“After feeling sick on Friday, I went to Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, where I was diagnosed with a bacterial infection,” O’Rourke said. They gave me excellent care and attention, including IV drips and rest.”

“While my symptoms improve, I will rest at home in El Paso as advised by my doctor. We regret that this has forced us to postpone the event, but we will be back on tour with you as soon as possible. I promise I can,” he added.

O’Rourke ran unsuccessfully for United States Senate and President, and was previously a member of the United States House of Representatives.
