A Taliban pilot crashed a Black Hawk helicopter in Kabul, Afghanistan on Saturday, killing three and injuring five, a group spokesman said.
Defense Department spokesperson Enaytullah Khowrazmi said on Saturday that “an American Black Hawk helicopter flying for training crashed on the campus of the National Defense Academy due to technical problems.”
A video posted by Afghan journalist Weiss Barakzai appeared to show the out-of-control helicopter crashing nose-first into the ground.

U.S. forces left more than $7 billion in equipment when they withdrew from Afghanistan last year, including $923.3 million worth of military aircraft and $294.6 million worth of aircraft ammunition.
Some aircraft were “demilitarized and rendered inoperable during the evacuation,” the Pentagon inspector general wrote in a report last month.

The Taliban also seized tactical ground vehicles and over 300,000 small arms, including sniper rifles, machine guns and grenade launchers.
Last November, a parade was held in Afghanistan’s second-largest city, Kandahar, where the Taliban displayed US military equipment acquired after their withdrawal.
