The man survived an 11-hour flight while hiding in the landing gear compartment of the plane. The vault was found by police at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
According to a tweet from the Amsterdam gendarmerie, the man traveled through a well on the wheels of a freighter arriving from South Africa. The man was taken to the hospital and despite traveling that way, he appeared to be healthy.
“A stowaway was found on the front wheel of a South African freighter at Schiphol Airport,” Gendarmerie Conincrique wrote on Twitter. “The man was fine under the circumstances and was taken to the hospital. Marekhausy (gendarmes) is under investigation.”

In a follow-up message, the gendarmerie wrote that he was investigating whether this was a trafficking case.
The suspect is from Nairobi, Kenya, and gendarmerie revealed that he had applied for asylum.
The company that owned the freighter was identified as Cargolux. Fox News Digital asked company representatives for comment, but didn’t respond immediately.

This is just the latest example of authorities catching a stowaway on an airplane.
Fox News Digital reported earlier last year that stowaway Marilyn Hartman was detained at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport. She was staying in a residential facility before the incident and she was equipped with an electronic monitoring device equipped with a GPS unit.

Authorities began pursuing Hartman after the facility reported that she had left. She appeared to be heading straight towards O’Hare Airport, where she was eventually detained.
Hartman claims to have used 30 flights in 20 years without buying a ticket.
