Police in Illinois have arrested 15 people on suspicion of using funds from a Paycheck Protection Program loan to bail out of prison.
According to FOX 32, after a police data investigation, several Will County Jail inmates applied for and received PPP loans that were used to keep them out of prison for felony cases. It turned out that
PPP recipients cannot be charged with a felony to qualify.

Joliet Police Department Detective James Kilgore said police could not find a business license that matched the address used in the PPP loan.
“The majority of them also use their home address, so we did a few spot checks of their residences on a regular basis,” said Kilgore. “It looked like just a residence. There was no real business there. We also checked with the City of Joliet about any kind of business license for anyone at that address or that family, which was also negative.” It was a great result.”
