The Cleveland Browns hope they won’t hear any boos when they play Thursday night at home against division rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
But second-year cornerback Greg Newsom II couldn’t blame the fans after their performance against the New York Jets that resulted in a terrible loss in the final seconds of the game.
After Sunday’s game, defensive end Myles Garrett said he was disappointed that fans were booing his team.
“It wasn’t the most optimal ending we wanted,” he told News5 Cleveland. “Of course we want to win. We don’t want to see this crowd because we have a lot of time to fix things this stadium is giving up on us so quickly we want to see them we are completely behind we are disappointed for everyone But as a team, we are absolutely disappointed.”

Newsom, on the other hand, saw the other side of things.
“I know the fans booed. I would have booed after a loss like that,” he said.
The Browns lost in dismal fashion. Running back Nick Chubb scored a touchdown to put the Browns up by two with 1 minute and 22 seconds left in the fourth quarter. All the Browns had to do was play a conservative, tight defense, but they couldn’t bring the clock to zero.

Instead, Jets wide receiver Corey Davis scored a quick touchdown on a long pass from quarterback Joe Flacco to bring the Jets within six points. Then the ensuing onside kick gave Jets special team weapon Justin Hardy the ball back and the win.
Rookie wide receiver Garrett Wilson caught a pass from Flacco in the middle of the field for a touchdown, and the extra point was good as it put the Jets up 31-30 with 22 seconds remaining. Set threw an interception to end a potential game-winning field goal situation.
“They’re obviously disappointed. ‘I’ve been here for nine years and I’ve been booed at least once every year, if not as a team. They’re hard earned.’ We spent our money supporting the team, they were frustrated and disappointed, just like we were frustrated and disappointed.”
Linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Colmore was even called “the right move” by fans because he’s a “tough love type of guy.”

“My message to the fans is to stick with us,” Newsom said. “It was week two and we were 1-1. But the season is long, you’re going to need them, especially in the second half of the stretch, especially now, so stay with us and make them proud by the end of the season. I will.”
