California Governor Gavin Newsom leveled his latest attacks against Republican governors at a climate conference in New York on Tuesday.

“Conservative governors out there, Greg Abbott and others, are as stupid as they want to be, and are only doubling down on their stupidity, and we won’t get their way,” he said. Speaking at the Clinton Global Initiative meeting, according to KXTV in Sacramento.

The comments are just the latest in a string of remarks aimed at conservative governors, leading to speculation that Newsom could run for president in 2024.

Last Friday, the governor of California challenged Florida governor Ron DeSantis to a debate on immigration.

“Hey @GovRonDeSantis, obviously you’re busy struggling, distracted, and playing politics in people’s lives,” Newsom tweeted. “There is only one most important need, so pay attention. Earlier this month, Newsom donated $100,000 to DeSantis’ Democratic underdog Charlie Christ and ran an ad in Florida against DeSantis.

In an ad, Newsom said, “To everyone who lives in Florida, join the fight or free speech, freedom to choose, freedom to hate, freedom to love California where we still believe in freedom.” I encourage you to participate in the ,” he said.

Newsom has also purchased billboards in seven Republican states, including the state of Texas, where he left the pro-choice message, “Texas doesn’t own your body, you own it.” is also included.

Newsom said in a recent campaign email that he was challenging the Republican leader.
