Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis reacted to recent actions taken in response to the monkeypox virus outbreak in the United States, telling reporters at a media briefing on Wednesday that his government was “fearing.” I haven’t,’ he said.
The Republican governor said at a press conference that Florida would instead “focus on the facts.”
“I’m sick of politicians – and we’ve seen this with COVID – trying to instill fear in the population,” he said. was worried if the kids would be able to catch it at school.”
“We are not scared,” DeSantis added. “And we’re not going to go out and try to piss people off or act like something can’t keep people from having a normal life.”

He argued that state leaders who declared public health emergencies were abusing their powers to “restrict your freedom.”
“I guarantee it will happen,” he said. “We’ve seen that a lot with COVID.”
Governments Kathy Hochul, Gavin Newsom, and JB Pritzker — Democrats for New York, California, and Illinois, respectively — have declared a state of emergency over the monkeypox epidemic.
New York now accounts for 1,666 of the US cases.

According to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are 525 confirmed cases of monkeypox and orthopoxvirus reported in Florida, and there are now 6,617 nationwide.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared monkeypox a global health emergency, and the virus has spread to dozens of normally unaffected countries.

Monkeypox can spread to anyone through close, personal, often skin-to-skin contact, including direct contact with objects or surfaces used by a monkeypox patient.
A pregnant person can spread the virus to the fetus through the placenta.
