“He said for a few days,’I’ll be busy soon,'” she said. “He didn’t want to worry about me, so he didn’t tell me anything specifically.”
Black’s mother, Dara Joy Black, hopes that the family has contacted government officials and that Finn was still alive and uncaptured with the missing American and former veteran Alexander Druke. Said he was.
“Most of what we know is that we are looking at several different scenarios,” Black’s mother said. “We don’t want to lose focus from the search on the ground, as it has not been confirmed that they were captured.
“We don’t want to pay attention to the idea that he was captured prematurely until it’s confirmed,” she added.
The State Department told Fox News Wednesday that they were closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with Ukrainian authorities.

A spokesman reiterated that the United States is now strongly urging opposition to traveling to Ukraine.
Black’s mother described Huin as a man with a “big heart” who felt forced to help the Ukrainians after seeing the brutal war that followed the Russian invasion in February.
“When he saw the news coverage of what was happening in Ukraine, it tore him,” she said. “He couldn’t sleep or eat, he felt so burdened that these people needed help.”
Black’s mother said Finn intends to help him in every way he can, whether through humanitarian organizations or by fighting Ukrainian troops.

“Andy is one of the young people who hits a burning building instead of leaving it,” she added.
Black said she and Huin will get married on their return from Ukraine.
“It’s always. When he does, it’s going to be a big celebration,” she added.
