A violent crowd in Chicago attacked a police car with fists and fireworks in at least two incidents this weekend, injuring a police officer.
Police were first attacked Saturday night when a crowd jumped onto a police car and kicked or beat the car until the windshield broke. According to CBS Chicago, one officer was injured in the incident.
In the second incident early Monday morning, the crowd set fireworks on the police car, slowly reversing when the crowd kicked and hit the vehicle.
There were no reports of injuries in the second incident and police did not arrest them.

Chicago has experienced widespread violence throughout the Independence Day weekend since Friday, killing 54 people, including seven dead.
Police have called on parents to track their children throughout the weekend.
“There’s no reason why everyone can’t enjoy the safety of holidays and all events. Parents should know where your child is,” said police super-intensive David Brown. “Don’t leave them to the government to be parents of your children. We ask you, parents, to help make sure your young people are safe. “
